Poem 22: The One

Finality banality
Achingly yellow
Artificial banana smell

Your ignorant eyes
Staring cheekily
In the opposite direction

Smear of mallow chew
On the smile-wrinkled corner of your mouth

You knew a long time ago
But aren't letting on now

"Artificial banana smell" is very evocative. I can smell it now.
